DTZ preparation: Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer

Understand DTZ as a distinct exam and practise clear communication in everyday situations.

DTZ is not a generic name for B1

The Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer assesses levels A2 and B1. It should not be treated as interchangeable with every B1 exam. Find current DTZ information and practice materials at g.a.s.t.

Practise everyday communication

Identify essential information in a notice and respond clearly. Write short messages with a specific purpose. In speaking, useful details matter more than long memorised introductions.

Describe a situation

Choose your own photograph without personal data. Describe what you can see, what the people might be doing and a similar situation you know. This is original language practice, not an official DTZ task.

Separate preparation from registration

Use the official sample paper for the actual format. Confirm registration, dates and required evidence with the responsible organisation. A TUEES consultation plans language learning, not an administrative decision.
