Speaking practice: move from sentences to conversation

A practical routine for clear answers, follow-up questions and planning together.

Content created: 13 October 2026

Start with a small task

Choose a familiar topic and explain your opinion with a reason and an example. Begin without a fully written script. If you forget a word, try a simple explanation rather than stopping the conversation.

Respond instead of delivering a monologue

Practise agreeing on a meeting time with a partner. Suggest a time, ask about an alternative and confirm your decision. Try original example phrases such as “Was halten Sie von Samstag?” and “Könnten Sie das bitte genauer erklären?” These are free practice ideas, not copied exam questions.

Improve one thing at a time

Ask for specific feedback: was the message clear and did you answer the question? Repeat with one new focus. If you record yourself, use your own voice and do not publish other people's recordings without consent. TUEES live lessons are not recorded.
